Overview
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from tuftsin (an endogenous immunomodulatory peptide), developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics (Russia).
Mechanism of action
Research focuses primarily on the GABAergic system (modulation of gene expression related to GABA neurotransmission), with anxiolytic, nootropic and immunomodulatory effects described in the literature.
Research context
In Russian clinical trials, Selank showed anxiolytic efficacy comparable to benzodiazepines (medazepam, phenazepam) without reported sedation or dependence. These results have not been replicated in Western trials; Selank is not approved outside Russia and Ukraine.
Quality assurance
- Purity ≥ 99 % verified by HPLC
- Certificate of Analysis (COA) available per batch
- Traceability: unique batch number on every vial
Format & handling
Presentation: lyophilised powder, 5 mg / vial · Reconstitution: bacteriostatic water · Storage: refrigerate the lyophilisate; after reconstitution, keep cold and protected from light.
