Overview
Melanotan I corresponds to afamelanotide, a synthetic linear analogue of α-MSH and a selective agonist of the MC1R receptor.
Mechanism of action
MC1R activation stimulates eumelanin synthesis (pigmentation and photoprotection). Its MC1R selectivity distinguishes it from the non-selective Melanotan II.
